Types of paper

Borobudur Nursing Review (BNUR) publishes original research, reviews, and discussion papers. Full papers can be a maximum of 6,000 words in length (excluding references, tables, and figures). However, BNUR prefers shorter papers. In addition, BNUR publish shorter editorials and letters that comment on current or recent journal content.

Original research paper
Original research paper is an article that reports detailed research and classified as primary literature. Its format includes introduction, methods, results, and discussion. This research paper can be ranged from 3,000 to 6,000 words in length.

Review paper
These should provide up-to-date situation and balanced overview regarding certain important issues in research or nursing practice. They should cover aspects of a topic in which consensus exists as well as aspects that remain controversial and are the subject of ongoing nursing research. These papers should include information about the type of study or analysis, population, intervention or test, and outcomes. It discusses previous development from the topic and gives an overview of the future. The length of these paper is from 3,000 to 4,500 words.

Case study
This is short discussions of a case or case series with unique features that make an important teaching point or observation in nursing science. The case should describe novel techniques or use of equipment, or new information about nursing process. The length of case study is from 2,000 to 3,000 words.

Letter to the Editor
Brief letter of constructive comments in response to previously published BNUR articles are welcome. There should be a title for the letter. It also includes the corresponding author’s mailing and email address. Letter will be selected based on clarity, significance, and space in the upcoming BNUR volume. The length of letter to the Editor is maximum 600 words.

General structure of original research paper and case study

Paper identity
The title should be concise, informative, and maximum use 15 words. A single space and Arial Unicode MS 16 must be used for the title. The names of authors and affiliation should put after the title. The corresponding author’s mailing and email address must be put right after the list of affiliation. A single space and Arial Unicode MS 10 must be used for the names of authors, affiliation, and the corresponding author’s mailing and email address.

Abstract
The abstract must be in a single paragraph, used Arial Unicode MS 9 in italic, and included of 250 words or less. Abstract must be written in both Indonesian and English versions. Abstract should be structured into background (briefly emphasize the importance or novelty of the study), purpose (precisely state the study questions or aims), methods (briefly introduce the methods that used in the study; including the study design, setting, participants, interventions or tests, outcome measurements, and data analysis), results (briefly present the significant results, using data and statistical detail such as p value), and conclusions (briefly state the meaning of the findings, and carefully address the study questions or aims and confine the conclusions to aspects covered in the abstract). There should be 3-5 relevant keywords (in alphabetical order). BNUR recommends to use keywords from the Medical Subject Heading (MeSH).

The introduction of a manuscript includes a brief overview of the literature relating to the research topic as well as the study questions and/or aims. Introduction section must be written in Indonesian version. It also should use a single space and Arial Unicode MS 10.

Method
The research method contains a direct description of the methods used in a study. Methods section must be written in Indonesian version. It also should use a single space and Arial Unicode MS 10. If the method section needs to be divided into subsections, the subsections must be clearly defined. Thus, each of subsections must have a brief heading and should appear on separate line.

Result and Discussion
This section contains a direct description of the finding of the research and the interpretation of finding based on the current literature. Result and discussion section must be written in Indonesian version. It also should use a single space and Arial Unicode MS 10. If this section needs to be divided into subsections, the subsections must be clearly defined. Thus, each of subsections must have a brief heading and should appear on separate line.

Conclusion
The conclusion contains a summary of the research findings and answers the research questions or aims in the introduction. Conclusion section must be written in Indonesian version. It also should use a single space and Arial Unicode MS 10.

Acknowledgment
This section contains a statement of funding sources for the research work. This section also contains gratitude to those who contributed to the research and preparation of the manuscripts. Acknowledgement section must be written in Indonesian version. It also should use a single space and Arial Unicode MS 10.

References
This section lists all the references cited in the text. Please ensure that every references cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa). BNUR use APA 7th style. BNUR also highly encourage to use DOI in the references. Citation and reference systems must use the Reference Management System such as Mendeley, EndNote, and Zotero.

Language (usage and editing services)

Please write your text in good Bahasa. Authors who feel their Bahasa needs editing, please work with your Indonesian native speaker when possible. Articles sent in English will be edited and translated with a fee that will be charged to the authors (proofreading costs around IDR 400,000.00 per 1000 words).

Figures

General points
  • Avoid graphic plots that are too crowded.
  • Use the appropriate axis.
  • Symbols and data sets must be clear, easily distinguishable.
  • Make sure you use uniform lettering and sizing of your original figure/artwork.
  • Number the illustrations according to their sequence in the text.
  • Figures should always be cited in text in consecutive numerical order.
  • Figure parts should be denoted by lowercase letters (a, b, c, etc.).
  • If an appendix appears in your article and it contains one or more figures, continue the consecutive numbering of the main text. Do not number the appendix figures, "A1, A2, A3, etc."
  • Examples of using Figure, available in manuscript/paper template.

Tables

  • Please submit tables as editable text and not as images.
  • Tables can be placed either next to the relevant text in the article, or on separate page(s) at the end.
  • Number tables consecutively in accordance with their appearance in the text and place any table notes below the table body.
  • Be sparing in the use of tables and ensure that the data presented in them do not duplicate results described elsewhere in the article.
  • Please avoid using vertical rules and shading in table cells.
  • Tables should always be cited in text in consecutive numerical order.
